Hua Hin Guide
Getting to Hua Hin
Hua Hin is easy to get to from Bangkok and there are a number of options to suit any schedule and budget. Once you’re in Hua Hin you will find it easy to plan your onward journey.
By Air
SGA currently has three scheduled flights per day leaving from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The journey takes just 50 minutes. You can find schedule times and details at SGA’s website. Hua Hin airport is on the Petchkasem Road, just a few kms North of the town centre.
By Taxi
A taxi costs 2000-3000 Baht and the journey time from Bangkok is about 2 and a half hours in good traffic. At Suvarnabhumi Airport you will find a number of private taxi agents inside the arrivals departure terminal but you may get a better deal from negotiating a price with a metered taxi outside.
By Coach and Bus
Blue coaches leave the Southern bus station in Bangkok (Sai Tai Mai) roughly every 30 minutes, from around 6am to 10pm, cost 150 Baht and take about 3 hours. The Coaches arrive at the bus station on Sra Song road just a block east of the main Petchkasem Road. A quicker (2.5 hrs), more expensive option (180 Baht) is to take a minibus from the centrally located Victory Monument, (handy for the sky train), which arrives at a small soi on Petchkasem road, near the Honda dealership, opposite the Esso garage.
By Train
12 trains per day leave from Hua Lampong train station in Bangkok to Hua Hin. The first train leaves at around 8am and the last around 11pm. The journey time can take as long as 6 hours (no matter what the timetable might say). Whilst not the fastest way to get to Hua Hin, it is pleasant, scenic and relaxing. The price is very cheap as well at only 60-100 Baht. You can view the complete Hua Hin train timetable here.
